Caste Notices

From the First Chair

I always said if the caste ever calls on me I will answer. I was told by many that the caste is calling, I answered; and, you elected me First chair. Now I have a challenge for all of our caste. In the past I heard from quite a few who had great ideas of how to do things, but when it came time to actually do anything those same people are not to be found, this will cease.
Starting with this newsletter, which I hope will become a regular, and much anticipated thing for us. In this newsletter you will notice a part where there are proposals to be voted on. I have heard some want full caste meetings. That would be a great idea if it were doable. First off I know from past experience, we cannot find a day and time where the high council can meet together much less the full caste. Yet, the full caste should have a say in policy changes. Since everything would go to an email vote anyway, I am putting all policy changes that need to be voted on in the newsletter to keep us all from having our mailboxes cluttered too much. There will be a link to send in your votes, the 2nd, 4th and 6th chairs will tabulate those votes, and the results will be published in the next issue. The 2nd chair is in charge of the vote counting here.
Next I want all to feel comfortable in letting me know of your concerns, complaints, and of course what we are doing right. I am always here for you to talk to, and any help I can do I will give.
Now there are a lot of healers out there no longer in the caste for what ever reason, those of us in the caste need to urge them to rejoin as soon as possible. Those that went to the alternate Gor will be welcomed back in as that fight always seemed a bit childish to me. Those that went, tried something they thought was new, it for what ever reason did not work. I am not here to pass judgment on it. Since it did not work, those who went should be welcomed back. enough said on that matter.
While Chala was 1st chair there were a few programs she said she wanted to do that were great ideas, but we all dropped the ball on them, so they never came to be. I want to start them, only this time aggressively push these programs so they get done. First is to have cities sponsor get-togethers for healers, while classes will not be discouraged, the main purpose is to have physicians meet one another and get to know each other better. Believe it or not we have plenty of old timers amongst us though most new comers would not know that unless someone told them. If cities do not step up soon, a chair will be appointed to get cities to volunteer.
The second is to host one big party a year for our caste: a week of celebration, play time, where we do not have to act so noble, can let our hair down and have fun. We have a tropical island that would be a welcome place to hold this party and winter would be the best time to hold it. After all, those of us in the cold weather zones could use a tropical vacation during the cold months. On this island what goes on there stays there or the kings help you. Anyone stupid enough to try to collar anyone will be stuck with all the dull rusty needles we can come up with, and of course the collared victim set free. Yes there is a clothing optional beach and swimming hole on the island, I staked them out myself on my last vacation there. if what is going on offends you I am sorry, but can only say, go elsewhere, the rest of us are having fun, and do not want to hear about anything negative. Any other time the island is open to physicians and their families to use as they will.
Now to address those who love to suggest but hate to do I give a fair warning. My personal motto for the caste this year will be "put up or shut up". This means if you make a suggestion of something doable, be prepared to be in charge of that idea to make it float or sink. Several have already fallen victim to this. More will as we go on I am sure. Remember this is not my caste, it is not the high council's caste, it is a caste that belongs to every single member. Every single member needs to be involved in making this caste the best it can be.
I challenge every single member to work towards this goal. We need people to give classes, hold meetings, get those who are not in the caste to join. There is plenty of work for everyone, so everyone pitch in and help out.
Those of you who wanted me as leader, here is my answer, no one person can do it alone, but as a group we can work wonders.
Lets have a great and prosperous year.
