Stuck in the moment…

I’ve been pondering quite a bit lately and it took a movie, a bumper sticker and a high school assignment to bring it to the fore front of my freakin head.

     1) “When the power of love overcomes the love of power, only then will the world know peace.”–said some dudes bumper sticker.

     2) Watching The Twilight Saga: Eclipse presented the love triangle that I’ve read at least 7 times now, but it wasn’t until Rafe exclaimed, “Bella’s a whore” even after she stated she was a virgin to her dad on the big screen, is when I realized that she was stringing along both men’s hearts. But from Rafe’s point of view it doesn’t matter what the cause is, it’s still wrong. My argument, she told Jacob from day one, “don’t love me like that because my heart belongs to Edward”.

     3) “Then, Present, After”  is what Mr. Kennedy wrote on the board and gave us 15 minutes to write about those three words. Stunned as the class was, I pondered what the meaning’s were, rather than follow my fellow students into trying to use all 3 in a sentence. I was the only one who understood the assignment in my class.

Ok, if you’re keeping up with me your probably wondering what all 3 topics have in common? or wondering what the hell i’m rambling about.

Then, meaning the past, yesterday. Present, meaning in the moment, right now. After, meaning the future, after the past, after the moment. So basically, all three meaning the here and now. If you don’t like your past then you need to change the future by changing the right now. Bella was finding and fighting for her future by taking action in her here and now. Jacob was fighting to be her future and Edward is her future. That’s why it was hard for me to see Rafes point of view. She wasn’t stringing them both along. She was living in her moment. But the power of love was trying to take control of her emotions and her actions. It was only when she realized that she could stop and ponder her right now to make her next step the right one.

Ok, so if I lost you, I’m sorry but I promise I have a point. Keep reading.

If you want your piece of the American Dream, you have to take control of your right now, Love your self enough to slow down and protect your past so that you can ponder what you’ve accomplished in your life time. You won’t be stuck trying to change what is behind you and you can relish what is to come while enjoying your now.

Damn bumper stickers and fortune cookies…hahahahahah.

p.s. ECLIPSE WAS SO AWESOME, AMAZING AND WONDERFUL.

  1. “When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.” that’s Jemi Hendrixz lyrics!!! That SO rocks of your blog. There is a distinct possibility he got the inispiration from a Eastern saint, but I’m not sure.

Further, missed your posts, glad you’re back. And I’m totally swiping that writing prompt for my notebook tonight. I’ve already written it on a little slip of paper for my pages to know what they’ve got to deal with 😉

I love these movies and I’m taking my mom to see New Moon Sunday. I know I’ve been remiss in my duties as a Twi-hard, but there is work to consider. Glad you enjoyed it.

Lastly, didn’t know how your life reflected these things, sorry if they cause you or anyone pain. Emotions are so hard to navigate sometimes, aren’t they? I feel for you sister. XOXO

    1. I am so glad that you are going to do the writting prompt. I was surprised when the teacher put it up on the board and even more surprised when he told me that I was the only one who understood it, considering he was my 1st class of the day and I’m so not a morning person by any means.

      Eclipse is my favorite movie.

  2. I am so confused….

But I still believe she is selfish enjoying her “now” all the while stringing both along each thinking each other is her future. She needs to admit, commit, or quit. Or Jacob and Edward need to Erase! Replace! cause she is being a “c**k tease” getting her wants and needs met without giving anything in return. As Jacob said, “Not enough! Still not enough!”

On a positive note, your quote “If you want your piece of the American Dream, you have to take control of your right now, Love your self enough to slow down and protect your past so that you can ponder what you’ve accomplished in your life time. You won’t be stuck trying to change what is behind you and you can relish what is to come while enjoying your now.” is a quote worthy of publication! And very good writing, albeit a little confusing…

Let me know whatcha think
