Hey my little lovelies,
I just wanted to let you know, I’m still here. Lot’s have happened.
1st: We moved from the apartment life to a 3 bedroom home life. Amidst the moving and painting, and carpeting, and cleaning, we managed to learn how to make a fire in the fireplace; so hot we couldn’t stand to be in the living room to enjoy it. My Classic Alena Self, put a set of small candles on the wood burning stove to make them melt a little and be even in the glass holders. However, I got distracted for a about an hour and thankfully Jordan has some Fireman skills because if it wasn’t for him, the house would have burnt down to the ground. Needless to say the glass holders got too hot, started to crack, exploded hot wax everywhere and the wax caught fire….repeatedly. I didn’t even know wax was flammable. I mean really, that’s just bad design. This officially retired me from doing anything with, around, on, in, the fire place.
2nd: The cars have been testing Jordan’s patience. Left and right something is going wrong with them. But he’s pretty diligent at uncovering their problems and straightening them out. We bought a 1986 Camaro to restore. Needless to say, we’re stoked.
3rd: Oh, Mr. Kenny Brown got his driver’s license last week. We are very proud parents. Although Kenny worked very hard to achieve this milestone. Paying for his own drivers classes, taking the tests, and maintaining his car with the help of one rad mom and one awesome Jordan. I gave Kenny some advice back in the day, “Dude, skip finding a girlfriend ; you need a wife. You’re a lot of maintenance.” I also told him, “Don’t worry about that girl, you’ll find one who loves to clean, cook, and can kick your ass at Xbox.” Miss Stashia loves to clean, she can cook and she can tolerate Kenny’s sarcastic humor and she’s mad crazy on the Xbox. These two are so adorable together.
4th: Little Miss Aubry is in middle school now. She’s attended her first school dance and it was a hit for her. Her grades are amazing and she’s really turning into one delightful young lady with such a caring personality.
I’m going to stop numbering these cause there’s just too many.
Jordan and I have been in couples therapy for about a year and a half. We are learning that we don’t have to be perfect, we have issues from our childhood jacking up our present, but we’ve also learned what the meaning of happiness is…for us anyway.
HAPPINESS IS TO BE CONTENT IN THE MOMENT. NOT WANTING SOMETHING ELSE, NOT NEEDING ANYTHING ELSE AND LOVING THE COMPANY AND LIFE YOU’VE SURROUNDED YOURSELF IN.
I’ve decided to try my hand at having a small Cottage Food Business making flavorful cupcakes. So far, I’m loving every sugary minute of it.
As for me, I’m still working 40 hours a week, waking up next to the most incredible man my heart has ever loved, guiding my beautiful daughter through middle school drama and watching my son transform into a man that I’m proud of every day and talking to my sister and nephew nearly every other day.
My life is great!
